High winds, gusting in excess of 60 MPH, blew through parts of Michigan early in the morning on Jan. 20, leaving more than 120,000 customers without power. Hardest hit were some of the communities in Michigan’s Thumb, where nearly 20 percent of the area’s residents and businesses were without power. Despite the freezing temperatures and some pretty severe damage, we safely restored the vast majority of customers within 48 hours.
Many of our customers responded with warm words of thanks, especially for our crews who worked long, long hours in frigid temperatures. Above, you’ll see a photo of our “heroes in hard hats” repairing some broken poles in the 18 Mile and Ryan Road area. We truly appreciate their dedication, and our customers’ patience.
