WE DTE wants to give a sincere round of applause and huge thank you to all of our customers who were patient with DTE Energy as our crews worked to get customers back online after last week’s storm, which left 130,000 customers without power. Working amidst high winds, crews were able to safely restore the vast majority of our customers within about 48 hours.

A quick re-cap of what happened:
As Hurricane Sandy blew onto the East Coast, high winds also were felt here. We experienced 36 hours of sustained winds gusting up to 70MPH. The sustained high winds left line crews with continuing outages which also complicated damage assessment. During previous storms, DTE Energy has been able to request assistance from utilities in other states. However, with millions power outages on the East Coast, most resources were already committed to that restoration effort. Fortunately, by the second day of the storm, we were able to recruit assistance from neighboring utilities in Michigan and Wisconsin. All available DTE Energy crews worked 16-hour shifts, around-the-clock, to restore electric service to our customers.
