WE DTE wants to reiterate that service reliability is as important to DTE Energy as it is to our customers. On an annual basis, we put $600 million into service reliability with a targeted portion of that going toward areas that experience more frequent outages.
For instance, the new Buckler Substation, which is part of a $10 million investment for Ann Arbor, will benefit the city by accommodating electrical load growth starting in mid-to-late 2013. DTE’s electrical load studies show that the city’s 2011 electrical loads were approximately 12% higher than in 2009.
Additional areas of focus include when it comes to overall system reliability include:
- Tree trimming to avoid interference with power lines and other electrical equipment.
- Inspection of utility poles, power lines and other electrical equipment, such as transformers, fuses and regulators.
- Adding electrical circuits and substations in rapidly growing areas.
- Outage assessment to determine if supplemental work or additional resources are needed for any of the above-mentioned items.
